Poll — Phil’s philosophy flawed?

March 3rd, 2008, 12:20 pm · 1 Comment · posted by Michael Lev, staff writer

The Lakers twice held three-point leads in the closing phil0225.jpgmoments of Sunday’s game against Dallas, and they twice allowed the Mavericks to get off 3-point shots.

Dirk Notwitzki made the first to force overtime and missed the second. On both occasions, ABC analysts Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy said Lakers coach Phil Jackson should have ordered his team to foul before a 3-pointer could be lofted.

Jackson said afterward that he didn’t want to risk a four-point play or three free throws.
